Privacy policy
AverageElectricBill.com is built to work without knowing who you are. There are no accounts, and we never ask for your name, email or address.
What you type into the bill check
- ZIP code. Used only in your browser to pick your state. It is never sent to us or stored.
- Your bill numbers. When you press Check my bill, we save the state, home size range, number of people, bill month, kWh, rate per kWh, the utility you picked (if any) and your result. We store the date, not the time. We don't store your IP address or any ID that links checks together or to you.
- These anonymous records are used to show "people who checked here" figures, which appear only once a state has at least 20 checks, and to improve the site.
- Result links. The link to a result contains the numbers you entered and nothing else. Opening a shared link isn't recorded.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages and tools they use. It uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser. We send it summary events from the bill check (for example the state and result range), never your ZIP code or anything that identifies you. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are measured without analytics cookies.
You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Advertising
This site may show ads served by Google AdSense, which pays for running it. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on those visits.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.
Cookies
The bill check itself doesn't need cookies. Cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and, when ads are shown, Google AdSense. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The site keeps working without them.
Where data is kept
The site runs on Cloudflare. Anonymous bill checks are stored in a Supabase database. We don't sell data, and the anonymous records contain nothing that could be sold as personal information.
Children
This site is meant for adults paying household bills and isn't directed at children under 13.
